There are 3 framework and cladding specifications to choose from, including heavy-duty options. We can also add an extra security framework where the building needs even more reinforcement.
Windows & hatches
Add extra windows and choose security, standard or summer-style windows, with perspex or glass glazing and fixed or opening options. We can also build in practical hatches.
Doors & access
Add extra doors or choose standard doors, 4-foot double doors, 5-foot double doors, wider double doors or stable doors. You can also choose the hinge side to suit the approach and internal layout.
Roof, height & extensions
Choose felt or Onduline roofing, add extra height, and extend the usable space with roof overhangs or full extensions for sheltered working, storage or access areas.
Floor, base & weather protection
Specify tanalised bearers, extra floor runners, a breathable membrane and access ramps to create a building better suited to heavier loads, damp-prone locations and regular wheeled access.
Internal fit-out & practical extras
Make the inside work harder with partitions, shelving and workbenches. These can be combined with the door, window, security, roof and floor options above to create workshops, secure stores, hobby spaces and multi-purpose garden buildings. Heavy-duty, pressure-treated construction
The framework is a major part of the quality. Higher-specification builds use heavy-duty timber framing, and pressure-treated (tanalised) timber options and components provide excellent resistance to rot and decay. Pressure treatment drives preservative deep into the timber, making tanalised wood a very good long-term choice where durability and lower maintenance matter.

DERBY PROJECT REPORT
Practical School Storage for The Bemrose School
A straightforward 12 x 8 timber shed specification gave this large Derby school useful, well-organised storage while keeping the project practical and budget-conscious.
Beast Sheds supplied The Bemrose School in Derby with a practical 12 x 8-foot standard timber shed, selected to provide useful additional storage without adding unnecessary cost or complexity.
Like many schools, The Bemrose School has to make careful use of its available budget. A standard dip-treated building was therefore a sensible specification: robust enough for everyday school use, economical to purchase and straightforward for the site maintenance team to preserve with regular treatment over the years.
The school site already benefits from tight security expected at an educational establishment. With that wider site security in place, there was no need to spend more on a specialist security-shed specification.
Storage organised around everyday school needs
Inside the shed, three full-length heavy-duty shelves use the wall space efficiently and help staff keep equipment, supplies and maintenance materials organised. Raising stored items from the floor also preserves clear central space, making the building easier to use and reducing the time spent searching for what is needed.
Three windows provide generous natural light during the school day. This makes the interior more pleasant and practical to work in while avoiding the immediate expense and disruption of installing electrical lighting.
The final result is an uncomplicated but carefully considered storage building: large enough to be useful, bright enough for convenient daytime access and fitted with shelving that increases its effective capacity from the outset.
This Derby installation shows that a standard shed can still provide an effective institutional solution when the specification focuses on the features that matter most. By prioritising usable space, natural light and strong internal shelving, The Bemrose School gained a cost-conscious building suited to the demands of a busy educational site.
