Windows & hatches
Add extra windows and choose security, standard or summer-style windows, with perspex or glass glazing and fixed or opening options. We can also build in practical hatches.
Doors & access
Add extra doors or choose standard doors, 4-foot double doors, 5-foot double doors, wider double doors or stable doors. You can also choose the hinge side to suit the approach and internal layout.
Roof, height & extensions
Choose felt or Onduline roofing, add extra height, and extend the usable space with roof overhangs or full extensions for sheltered working, storage or access areas.
Floor, base & weather protection
Specify tanalised bearers, extra floor runners, a breathable membrane and access ramps to create a building better suited to heavier loads, damp-prone locations and regular wheeled access.
Internal fit-out & practical extras

Heavy-duty, pressure-treated construction

Higher-specification builds use heavy-duty timber framing, and pressure-treated (tanalised) timber options and components provide excellent resistance to rot and decay. Pressure treatment drives preservative deep into the timber, making tanalised wood a very good long-term choice where durability and lower maintenance matter.

An 11 x 9 Hipex Beast Shed for Secure Storage at a New Build Home in Reading
This Reading customer wanted a secure, spacious and easy-to-access shed for storing tools and bikes at his new build property, without compromising on strength, appearance or day-to-day practicality.
Having recently moved into a new build home, this Reading customer wanted a shed that would give him dependable storage from day one. The main priorities were clear: somewhere secure enough for tools and bikes, wide enough to make everyday access easy, and strong enough to cope with heavier use over the long term.
The finished solution was an 11 x 9 Hipex Beast shed with four-foot double doors, a fitted ramp, and no windows. That combination gave him the balance he was looking for: a large internal storage space, straightforward access for bulky items, and better security for anything valuable kept inside.
The Hipex design also brought an important practical benefit. The additional internal height makes the shed feel far more spacious and gives more usable wall area, which was ideal because the customer wanted to mount bicycles on the walls rather than leave them taking up floor space.
By choosing the heavy-duty Beast range, he also knew the building would be made with the strong framework and robust cladding needed for a serious storage shed rather than a lightweight garden outbuilding.

The absence of windows was a deliberate choice. Because the shed would be used to store tools, bikes and other equipment, the customer preferred a more secure exterior with fewer visible openings. The heavy-duty build quality of the Beast range reinforced that sense of security and made the whole structure feel properly substantial.
The four-foot double doors and ramp are what make the building especially practical on a daily basis. Together they create a wide, simple access point for wheeling bikes in and out, carrying tools, and moving larger items without struggling through a narrower doorway.
