Doors & access

Pressure treatment drives preservative deep into the timber, making tanalised wood a very good long-term choice where durability and lower maintenance matter.

WOLVERHAMPTON CUSTOMER CASE STUDY
A Taller, Better-Looking Shed Designed Around a Difficult Garden
A made-to-measure 9 x 6 Hipex-C Tanalised shed gave one Wolverhampton homeowner the quality, accessibility and long-term durability she wanted at the top of her garden.
Because the shed would sit prominently at the top of her garden, this Wolverhampton homeowner wanted a building that looked considered rather than purely functional. It also needed to provide easier access, generous headroom and the strength to remain useful for many years.
She selected a 9 x 6-foot Hipex-C Tanalised shed. The Hipex range is taller than a standard garden shed, creating a more spacious interior and making it more comfortable to move around and organise stored items.
“It was important that the shed looked good from the house and from the lower part of the garden,” she says. “I wanted something substantial and long-lasting, but also something that felt like a proper feature rather than an afterthought.”
The front elevation combines wide double doors with summer-house-style windows. Decorative glazing crosses reinforce the window frames while giving the building a more traditional appearance, and the fitted window boxes provide space for planting that can soften the timber façade as the garden develops.
Practical details chosen for everyday use
The double doors provide a broad opening for moving bulky items in and out, while Beast Sheds produced a bespoke ramp to match the threshold and surrounding paved area. The made-to-measure design gives a smoother approach to the doorway and makes the shed easier to use without relying on a generic ramp that might not fit the site properly.
Inside, the walls were lined with Beast Sheds’ breathable membrane. This creates a useful protective layer behind any future internal finish and helps manage moisture while allowing the timber structure to breathe.
“I liked being able to choose details that suited the way I would actually use the shed,” she explains. “The wider access, taller interior and fitted ramp all made it feel as though the building had been planned for my garden.”
Confidence from the checkout process
She first considered Beast Sheds because the company was local to Wolverhampton and had accumulated a large number of positive customer reviews. The full delivery-and-fitting service was another significant advantage, as she wanted one company to remain responsible for the project from the order through to final installation.
A particular point of reassurance came during the website checkout. The ordering process asked for practical access information, including how the shed components would reach the installation area. In this case, there was no direct route to the rear garden: every panel and component had to be carefully carried through the house.
“When the website specifically asked about access, I felt they understood the realities of the job,” she says. “It gave me confidence that the fitters would arrive prepared rather than discovering the problem on the day.”
Experienced fitting through the house
The installation team handled the restricted access calmly and methodically. Their experience showed as they moved the large shed sections through the property, protected the route and assembled the building on the prepared area at the top of the garden.
The finished shed now occupies the site neatly, with its taller Hipex proportions, decorative windows and planting boxes giving it enough presence to complement the garden. Tanalised timber was chosen for long-term durability, supporting the customer’s aim of investing once in a quality building rather than replacing a lighter shed after only a few years.
“Beast Sheds were very accommodating and easy to deal with,” she concludes. “The difficult access was handled professionally, and the finished shed gives me the quality and appearance I was hoping for.”
